Today was more than sightseeing—it was a day of remembrance.
Our Destination Fun Travel Avalon group visited the Beaches of Normandy and participated in a special ceremony honoring the heroes of D-Day and those who served in the military. Standing on these historic shores reminds us that freedom is never free.
A powerful and unforgettable experience.

More than 9,300 American service members are laid to rest at the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.
Walking these sacred grounds is a reminder that history is not just something we read about—it’s something we must remember and honor.

Today our Destination Fun Travel group visited Pointe du Hoc in Normandy — one of the most powerful stops on our Avalon Seine River cruise.
Standing where U.S. Army Rangers scaled 100-foot cliffs on D-Day is humbling beyond words. Travel gives us beautiful views, but it also gives us moments like this — moments to remember, honor, and feel deeply grateful.
This is why we travel.

🇫🇷 Paris Pop Quiz! 🇫🇷
Who can guess the original color of the Eiffel Tower when it was first unveiled in 1889? 🤔
Most people assume it has always been the iconic brown color we see today, but that’s not the case! The tower has actually worn several different shades throughout its history, including reddish-brown, yellow-ochre, and even a more golden hue.
A few fun facts:
✨ The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World’s Fair and was originally intended to stand for only 20 years.
✨ It weighs about 10,100 tons and is made from more than 18,000 iron pieces.
✨ The tower is repainted approximately every 7 years, requiring around 60 tons of paint.
✨ These elevators (pictured here) are part of the original engineering marvel that still carries millions of visitors each year.
