Most people assume it has always been the iconic brown color we see today, but that’s not the case! The tower has actually worn several different shades throughout its history, including reddish-brown, yellow-ochre, and even a more golden hue.
A few fun facts:
✨ The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World’s Fair and was originally intended to stand for only 20 years.
✨ It weighs about 10,100 tons and is made from more than 18,000 iron pieces.
✨ The tower is repainted approximately every 7 years, requiring around 60 tons of paint.
✨ These elevators (pictured here) are part of the original engineering marvel that still carries millions of visitors each year.
